It is hard to believe that the dream for Nordie's at Noon began over five years ago when we started meeting for luncheons as our own support group. It was our passion to fill a void in the lack of resources for younger women going through breast cancer and our desire to educate others that breast cancer does happen to young women, which led us to where we are now. |

In late September, the authors of Nordie's at Noon will receive the National Shining Star of Perseverance Award, from Assurant Employee Benefits, given each year to an individual who has demonstrated resilience, proactivity, conscientiousness and willpower in the face of a disabling illness or injury. We are honored by this recognition and thrilled that they are donating $5,000 to the Young Survival Coalition on our behalf.
Jen was surprised and excited to learn she had been selected as a Lifetime Television Breast Cancer Hero and will be traveling to Los Angeles in October for Lifetime's 13th Annual "Stop Breast Cancer for Life" campaign. She will attend a Heroes Celebration and screening of a new Lifetime movie. This marks the second time a Nordie's girl has received this honor, as Kim was a recipient in 2002.
Paperback Edition Now Available!
We have made some minor updates to Nordie's at Noon in the new paperback edition. We added a postscript about our fun trip to San Francisco in late 2006 to visit Jana, as well as her death just a few weeks later. The book is now dedicated to both Jana and Patti. In addition, the publisher added many of the kind words and reviews we have received about Nordie's at Noon.
The paperback edition is now available for $12.95 through your local bookstore or on-line retailers. Visit our Buy Now page for more information. The hardcover edition is still available through on-line retailers if you can't find it at your local bookstore.

Did you know that you are helping to make a difference in the breast cancer community, with each book purchased?
With each book sold, we donate 10% of our net proceeds to various non-profit breast cancer organizations. Last year we made donations to the Ribbons of Pink Foundation Fund, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Young Survival Coalition.
Please remember to follow the three steps to early detection:
1) Annual mammography beginning at age forty (ask your doctor about a baseline mammogram at age 35).
2) Clinical breast examinations (a breast exam by your physician) at least every three years beginning at age twenty and annually after age forty.
3) Monthly breast self-examination (BSE) beginning by age twenty.
