Welcome to Nordie's at Noon News! We hope this edition of our newsletter finds you enjoying a memorable summer.

As we reflect on 2006, we look back with such joy as well as heartache. In September, DaCapo Lifelong Press released Nordie's at Noon in hardcover, making the book available nationwide. After a busy media and book signing tour with Nordstrom, we celebrated this wonderful milestone with a trip to San Francisco to visit Jana in November.

Sadly, Jana's cancer continued to progress and she lost her eight year battle with breast cancer at age 35 on December 9, 2006, just a few weeks after our visit. We are so grateful we had that special time together and that she saw our dream become a reality. We miss Patti and Jana dearly in our daily lives, but they still live on and continue to inspire us and others through the many people they touched and through their words in Nordie's at Noon.

Updates:

Paperback edition out this fall!

Due to the success of the hard cover edition, the second edition of Nordie's at Noon will be released in paperback in September 2007 by DaCapo Lifelong press. The book will be available through any book store or through on-line retailers like Amazon.com.

2007 Events & Activities

The Spring season was filled with several speaking engagements and topped off with media interviews on The Fox Morning Show with Mike and Juliet and a radio interview on The Diane Rehm Show. If you missed the interviews, you can check them out on our website.

In May, the authors of Nordie's at Noon received The Natalie Davis Spingarn Writer's Award at the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship's Rays of Hope® Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. We were thrilled to have Elizabeth Edwards, a fellow breast cancer survivor, present us with this honor. Jen, Kim, and Patti's brother, David, as well as Jana's husband, Chris, were there to accept the award. In her introduction, Elizabeth remarked, "Nordie's at Noon is an honest and inspiring testament to [these authors'] experiences, which I am completely confident will inspire thousands of women as it has inspired me."

You are Making a Difference
Did you know that you are helping to make a difference in the breast cancer community, with each book purchased?

With each book sold, we donate 10% of our net proceeds to various non-profit breast cancer organizations. Last year we made donations to the Ribbons of Pink Foundation Fund, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Young Survival Coalition.

Please remember to follow the three steps to early detection:
1)  Annual mammography beginning at age forty.
2)  Clinical breast examinations (a breast exam by your physician) at least every three years beginning at age twenty and annually after age forty.
3)  Monthly breast self-examination beginning by age twenty.

We thank you so much for your support and help with spreading the message of early detection and Nordie's at Noon.

As Jana would say, "Life is Good," so remember to make each day count!

Wishing you health & happiness,
